he DragonStage F34 Truss Coupler Pin with R-Clip is replacement connection hardware for compatible 290mm aluminum truss systems using conical couplers.
The pin passes through the truss end connection and conical coupler, while the R-clip secures the pin in position during assembly. It is a practical replacement part for DJs, event rental companies, AV teams and installers who regularly assemble and dismantle modular truss systems.
If you are replacing other connection or mounting components at the same time, browse our Truss & Rigging Accessories for related truss hardware.
Important: Truss connection hardware is not universally interchangeable. Please check your existing truss connector dimensions before ordering.

Small hardware can stop an entire truss setup.
A straight truss section may still be in perfect condition, but if a connection pin or retaining clip is lost during transport or dismantling, that section may not be ready for the next installation.
That is why coupler pins and R-clips are useful spare parts to keep with a modular truss system, especially for equipment that is assembled and dismantled frequently.
This product is intended as replacement connection hardware for compatible F34 / 290mm conical-coupler truss systems.
A typical conical truss connection uses several separate components:
Truss End → Conical Coupler → Coupler Pin → R-Clip
The coupler pin passes through the aligned connection holes and holds the connection together.
The R-clip is then inserted through the pin to help prevent it from sliding back out.
This makes the pin and clip small parts, but necessary parts of the connection system.
Useful for DJs who own portable lighting truss, goalpost systems or other modular truss equipment and want spare connection hardware available during setup.
Rental equipment is repeatedly packed, transported, assembled and dismantled.
Pins and clips are among the small components that can become separated from the main equipment during this process, so keeping compatible replacements available can reduce installation delays.
Suitable as replacement hardware for compatible lighting and event truss inventory used across different jobs.
Useful where modular truss frames are repeatedly assembled for exhibitions, displays, backdrops and temporary event setups.
The truss itself is large.
The connection hardware is small.
That makes the hardware much easier to misplace.
Common situations include:
a pin left at the previous venue;
an R-clip lost during dismantling;
hardware separated during warehouse sorting;
damaged or worn hardware discovered during setup;
mixed accessories after different truss systems are stored together.
For anyone regularly using modular truss, keeping compatible connection hardware with the truss inventory is a simple practical precaution.

This is the most important part of buying replacement truss hardware.
“F34,” “290mm,” or a similar outside truss dimension does not automatically guarantee that every manufacturer's pin will fit every truss system.
Two trusses may look almost identical while having differences in connector dimensions, pin diameter, pin-hole position, coupler geometry or end fitting design.
Therefore:
Do not buy replacement pins based only on the outside size of the truss.
If you want to understand the connection system itself before selecting replacement hardware, see DragonStage's guide to Spigot, Bolt and Plate End Connections in Truss Systems.
The existing connection geometry should always be checked before mixing replacement components from different truss systems.
Do not judge a pin only by whether it is still physically present.
Before installation, connection hardware should be checked for obvious problems such as:
bending;
excessive wear;
deformation;
damaged retaining holes;
damaged or distorted R-clips;
poor fit with the original connector.
If connection hardware is visibly damaged or no longer fits the connection correctly, it should not simply be forced into place.
Check the connector and replace the appropriate component.
For occasional personal use, losing one small clip is inconvenient.
For a rental company or event crew working against an installation deadline, it can become a much bigger problem.
This is why pins and R-clips make sense as maintenance and spare inventory, rather than something to search for only after one has gone missing.
Keep them together with the corresponding truss system so that hardware from different connector systems does not become mixed.
A coupler pin and R-clip are only part of a complete modular truss connection system.
Depending on what you are replacing or building, you may also need conical couplers, connectors, clamps, base components or other truss hardware.
You can browse our Truss & Rigging Accessories for related replacement and setup components, or return to Truss & Rigging if you also need straight truss, corners, bases or other components for a complete event setup.
Do not purchase additional accessories simply because they are commonly used with truss. Start with the structure you already own or intend to build, then identify the components that are actually necessary.
F34 is useful for identifying the general truss family, but it should not be treated as proof of cross-brand connector compatibility.
The outside truss dimension does not determine every connector dimension.
Similar-looking hardware can have dimensional differences. Keep replacement hardware identified with the truss system it belongs to.
If a replacement pin cannot be inserted normally, stop and check the connector dimensions and alignment rather than forcing the connection.
Not necessarily. F34 describes a commonly used truss format, but connector and pin dimensions can vary between manufacturers. Compatibility should be checked before ordering.
Possibly, but compatibility should never be assumed from the F34 name or 290mm outside dimension alone.
Connector geometry, pin diameter and hole position should be compared before mixing components from different systems. For more background on why truss connection systems differ, read Understanding Spigot, Bolt and Plate End Connections in Truss Systems.
If you are unsure, send us photos and measurements of your existing connector and pin before ordering.
The R-clip retains the coupler pin after it has been inserted through the truss connection.
Yes. Pins and retaining clips are small components that can be misplaced during transport, setup and dismantling, so compatible spares are useful for frequently used truss systems.
Possibly, but compatibility should not be assumed. Compare the existing pin and connector dimensions first.
Send us a photo of your existing truss connector and pin together with the relevant measurements. We can help you check compatibility before ordering.
For replacement connection hardware, compatibility matters more than appearance.
Send us:
Truss Size + Connector Photo + Existing Pin Dimensions
and we can help you check whether this pin and R-clip are suitable for your existing truss system.
